Bio - P.J. Farley

P.J.Farley began his professional music career at the ripe old age of 16 years old when he signed his first MAJOR record deal as the bass player for the band TRIXTER. Signed to MCA records in 1989, His band TRIXTER recorded 2 records for MCA( Self-titled Trixter 1990, HEAR 1992). Those records have combined sales of over a million units! P.J. toured extensively in support of those records with bands such as KISS,POISON,WARRANT,SCORPIONS, etc... Touring every major arena, club, theater, and outdoor pavilion in the US and JAPAN gave P.J. experiences that most people twice his age were dreaming about. The band also went on to have three #1 videos on MTV and were on the cover of EVERY major music magazine published! Receiving a GOLD record at the age of 18 was "a surreal experience" says P.J. It was with this band that P.J. really cut his teeth and set the stage for a long career in music.

In the mid 90's P.J. kept busy working with former Trixter guitar player Steve Brown in a few different projects (Soaked, 40 Ft Ringo) among working with other artist on the side. One of which was an Artist known as Seven Williams(Seven in the Sun, Whiskey Falls). Seven Recommended P.J. to his friend Sahaj who was looking for a bass player. "Sahaj called me out of the blue and offered me a few shows before Ra was signed to Universal, the shows wound up getting cancelled but I loved the 3 songs he had sent me and I had a feeling we would work together at some point". Cut to almost year later and P.J. is on a plane to Fargo North Dakota to join Ra on tour with only a few days notice and having never met the band. "I literally met the band hours before going onstage with them that night and luckily we all just hit it off"

When P.J. is not playing with RA he also keeps himself busy with solo material that he writes, performs, and produces and can be heard on his Myspace page(myspace.com/pjfarley).. Along with that, when not touring, P.J. keeps busy with a number of local projects and artists to fulfill the lifestyle of the ultimate working musician!!

When it comes to equipment, P.J. has a few select companies that he is dedicated to. "I'm not an endorsement whore and and don't go through gear like loose change, I like what I like". Spector basses for one, is his bass of choice and has been since the late 80's. "I love the power and bottom that Spectors provide as well as the diversity it offers. In my opinion, no other bass sits on your shoulders better in concert either!" Kerly Music(kerlymusic.com) makes the strings that complete the tone P.J looks for in a live and studio setting. "This is a new up and coming string company that pays great attention the detail in their strings. The owner is a musician and knows what we like"

P.J. is now looking forward to the release of Ra's 3rd full length cd "Black Sun" with a tour to follow. "I'm really excited about this record for many reasons. For one, the songs are amazing and really blend perfectly with the other two records while also pushing the band further creatively. I'm also proud to have been able to contribute some music as well to this record. This was a long process for us and I'm excited to see it rise to the surface. I think people who enjoy Ra know us by now and should listen with an open mind and enjoy it from beginning to end.
